This might be because I am quite minimalist and like being organised but stopping with the using of random bits of paper and starting to use my iPad was a total game changer with my plans actually happening.
Like I said in the previous blogs, I used to scribble notes on pieces of paper and draw up grids and ‘attack plans’ and then be driven mad by the papers or misplace them. I would write things down on the back of my kids drawings or a scrap from the recycling bin and there was no order or cohesiveness to it.
Typing on the iPad (and ideally It should be my MacBook) keeps things in one place and I can then cut and paste what I type to wherever instead of rewriting things out time and time again.
Time blocking has been essential for some things happening because I don’t want to hurriedly do things.
There is more clarity when I look at a plan I can more easily see if there are missing things or things that can be tweaked etc.
It also felt more real. Almost as if putting it on the computer makes it more planned and actionable. I can build upon things. A notebook or pieces of paper are more just like a ‘Dear Diary’ kind of thing (to me). I needed a plan of attack to get my jumbled thoughts out of my head.
Another thing I bought was a small whiteboard from Kmart for $5. I wanted a plain, white, square whiteboard. I wanted somewhere to write a few goals down each day. I have a lot of things that I do that are automatic every day like getting dressed to shoes, making my bed etc but lots of things that aren’t yet in habit stage that I want to do every day.
I will Share some examples below so you have an idea. I change the board daily (the night before).
I have to get going for the day now but I do hope you have a great day. I’ll be back again soon.
P.s some of my photos are old ones of the kids that make me smile. I have been limiting my phone use so need to probably add ‘take photos’ to my little board
